What's problems would I encounter Growing Marijuana in a dessert.

Answer

Dessert soils are very dry and sandy they will let water run through them very quickly and the soil will probably not have very much nutrient value in it. If you can hook up a drip system or use some of those gel packs and add lots of nutrients the dessert would produce some nice stuff. The light levels are excellent in dessert areas.

Are "Sunmasters"  grow lamps appreciably better than your standard issue Metal Halides?  

Answer

Sunmasters are a tri-spectrum light and give off a closer replication of the sun's light. Where as the spectrum of the halide is limited to one spectrum.
